Arts & Crafts Table and Chairs
I had a request to make a table for the MD of a Bronze Foundry. He was retiring and had bought a brand new house in Surrey, built in an Arts & Crafts style. I looked at pictures and designed a very unusual twelve sided barrel based figured oak table with a circular top incorporating burr oak motifs in parquetry work. (See the edge detail.)
He wanted six new chairs to go with it but due to a limited budget this was looking difficult. However I found some factory made chairs online and altered them to suit the table. Adding acorn finials, trefoils to the top rails and pierce trailing trefoils to the back rails. With stopped chamfers and an adzed oak seat - very stylish chairs at an affordable price. Importantly they matched the table perfectly. We bought and altered eight chairs rather than six, the two extra chairs live in the study but can fit around the table comfortably for a slightly larger dinner party.
